Aug. 6 Colorado Day   Admission to all State Parks is FREE!    On August 1, 1876, President Ulysses S. Grant signed a proclamation admitting Colorado as a state. Celebrated as a state holiday on August 1 for many years, Colorado Day was then moved to the first Monday in August. Celebrate Colorado statehood by visiting one of its many natural resource gems– Lory State Park!

 

September 8, 2018   Black Squirrel Trail Half Marathon    Covering a variety of terrain, with a mix of moderately technical and non-technical trails, the course offers a tour of the outer boundaries of Lory State Park, providing breathtaking views to the east of Horsetooth Reservoir, Fort Collins and the Great Plains; and to the West of the awe-inspiring Rocky Mountain swell. Dec. 14, 2018 to Jan. 5, 2019   119th Annual Christmas Bird Count    Organized by the National Audubon Society, this all-volunteer effort takes a snapshot of bird populations to monitor their status and distribution across the Western Hemisphere.
