The application period for the Fall 2021 Friends of Lory State Park Get the Kids Outside Grant is now open through September 15. Non-profit organizations, including public schools, that work with economically disadvantaged children are eligible to apply for these funds to cover transportation costs for educational field trips to the Lory State Park in Bellvue, CO.

Why We Fund the Scholarship Grant

How to Qualify and Apply

As part of the Fall 2021 application process, organizations must contact Lory State Park Environmental Educator, Camryn Soehnlein, via email at dnr_loryinterp@state.co.us to confirm a date and time for the field trip and details for the activities to be included before submitting the grant application. Field trip dates are available during the week from September 15 to October 15, 2021, but fill up fast.

These outdoor programs give youth hands-on experience learning about geology, plants and wildlife native to the park, as well as some of the history of the Native American groups and the early homesteaders who occupied this area. Groups can also conduct service-learning projects, such as the removal of invasive plant species in the Park.

For any questions or concerns about this grant opportunity, please contact me, Karen  Wheeler, EE Grant Coordinator for the Friends of Lory State Park at loryspeducation@gmail.com.

Thank you for your time and we look forward to seeing you in the Park this Fall!
