Volunteers Needed at Upcoming Lory State Park Activities – Community Support and Participation Encouraged

BELLVUE, CO (May 2021) – Are you interested in helping make an impact at Lory State Park? Friends of Lory State Park (FoLSP) is calling for volunteers to help with interpretive programs such as campfire nights, nature walks, birding hikes, and more! These programs happen between May and October. All interested volunteers please register at DNR_loryinterp@state.co.us or call the Lory State Park Visitor Center at (970) 493-1623.

“Our park survives on volunteers, that is how we connect the park to the people,” explained Camryn Soehnlein, the Environmental Education Specialist and Volunteer Coordinator for Lory State Park. “You can gain valuable personal experience with the environment, the people, and animals that live in Lory. Our volunteers become our family, creating a fun and impressionable environment.”

The next Volunteer Orientation will be held Saturday May 22nd from 10am-1pm. The orientation is in-person at the Lory State Park Visitor Center conference room and lasts about 2 hours. The first hour will be a slide show presentation and the second hour is a guided hike on one of our most popular trails. COVID-19 protocols will be followed, including face masks inside and social distancing. Please register by emailing Camryn at DNR_loryinterp@state.co.us.
